On January 17-18, President of COSCO SHIPPING Wan Min attended the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2017 held in Davos, Switzerland. The theme this year is “Responsive and Responsible Leadership”. Chinese President Xi Jinping attended and addressed the opening ceremony. This event gathered some 1,700 participants, including nearly 50 heads of state or government, as well as representatives from political, business, academic and media circles.
During the meeting, Wan Min attended the opening ceremony, sub-forum on “China's Role for Global Prosperity” and the reception with the theme of “China and the World”, and delivered a speech on behalf of Chinese business executives at the China-US Business Roundtable. In his speech, Wan shared his two observations on the global economy and China-US trade: First, a sound international trade system is a contributor to the economic growth of China and the US as well as the well-being of their people. Second, a stable logistics supply chain is an important guarantee for sustained and sound development of international trade. He added that COSCO SHIPPING has every confidence in the economy of both China and the US, and holds high expectations for the trade between the two countries. It is willing to maintain close communication and cooperation with more American businesses.
In addition, Wan Min also held talks with Ms. Cheryl Martin, Member of the Managing Board, World Economic Forum, and Mr. Jan Suykens, CEO of Ackermans & van Haaren.
